Happy New Year! Our first 2011 Polk County Democratic Party meeting is on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Polk County Courthouse in the Commissioner's Conference Room. To come to a meeting enter from the Jefferson Street side of the court house. You are welcome to come any time between 6:30 and 7:00 pm for our social time and then our meetings are between 7:00 pm and 9:00 p.m.
This year, 2011, is not normally a year where there are big elections such as the Presidential election. That will be in 2012, so 2011 is the time to reflect on our elections from last year, grow our base of Democrats, and plan for 2012.
We are always looking for volunteers to help. If you are interested, contact one of the Polk County Democrats Officers for 2011/2012. We have a committee to fit your talents and interests.
We are fortunate that Polk County is close enough to Salem that you can give your input; attend meetings which can make a difference at the State level too.
Our BIG fundraising event for this year is joining with friends and neighbors on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 by purchasing tickets to "RENT" at the Pentacle Theater, 324 52nd Ave. NW in West Salem. Tickets are $25.00 per person. See the Home Page for this web site for more information.
We have elected officers for the 2011-2012. Christopher Proudfoot is now Chair. Wanda Davis will be serving as Vice Chair. Sue Olmstead is now Secretary. Peter Wells will be taking over from Linda Williams as the Treasurer. Linda will be assisting Peter for a few months until he feels comfortable with all the State requirements.
A BIG thank you goes to last year's officers, Jason Brown, Sue Olmstead, Alyce Perry and Linda Williams. We also want to again THANKS all of you who volunteered in 2010. Even though the elections weren't totally to our liking, it wasn't for lack of effort.
