"Job Description"

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Have some time and energy to invest in activities of the Democratic Party in Polk County.
  • Be a registered Democrat and a resident of Polk County.
  • Be elected by the Democratic voters of Polk County in the primary election of even-numbered years or attend two consecutive meetings of our Central Committee and be appointed by that committee. (Meetings are the second Thursday of every month. See Calendar for locations.)

ADDITIONAL FACTORS DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED:
Have a telephone at home or a personal cell phone. Have an e-mail address and access to the Internet. Be conversant in languages spoken within the precinct.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contribute to the following activities in whatever way is appropriate for your background and time available:

  • Act as liaison between the Democratic Party in Polk County and the voters in the precinct, coordinating voter outreach and other activities within the precinct.
  • Participate as a voting member of the Polk County Democratrats Central Committee, with power to vote on budget matters, policy, and procedures; read and act on written communications from the Central Committee.
  • Help develop a list of volunteers in the precinct who are willing to help the Polk County Democratic Party (e.g. staffing our booth at the county and state fairs, telephoning, canvassing, hosting social events, participating in parades and community events, etc.).
  • During election season, advise Democratic candidates and the Democratic Party on issues important to voters, and ways to identify voters and Get-Out-the-Vote (GOTV) within the precinct.
